BS EN IEC 61300 is a series on fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components. The broad variety of passive optical components applications include multichannel transmission, distribution, optical taps for monitoring, pump combiners for fibre amplifiers, bit-rate limiters, optical connects, route diversity, polarization diversity, interferometers, and coherent communication. The purpose of BS EN IEC 61300 ‑ 2 ‑ 54 is to assess the corrosive effects of atmospheres polluted with mixed gas on fibre optic devices. BS EN IEC 61300 ‑ 2 ‑ 54 can be considered as a general corrosion test, but it does not predict the performance of a device in use.
