Overview
EN ISO 4491-3:2025 (ISO 4491-3:2025) specifies a standardized laboratory method for determining the hydrogen-reducible oxygen content of metallic powders. The procedure targets powders with oxygen content in the range 0.05 % to 3 % (mass percentage) and is applicable to unalloyed, partially or fully alloyed metal powders, and mixtures of carbides with binder metal. It is not applicable to powders containing lubricants or organic binders. The method is designed to be used in conjunction with ISO 760 (Karl Fischer titration) and ISO 4491-1 (general guidelines).

- Scope limits: Not suitable for powders with organic binders or lubricants; interpretation requires caution if carbon partially reduces certain oxides.
