Overview
IEC 60669-2-1:2021 is an international standard developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) specifically focused on electronic control devices used as switches in household and similar fixed electrical installations. This fifth edition updates and replaces previous versions, incorporating significant technical revisions to align with modern requirements and technologies.
The standard applies primarily to electronic switches and home and building electronic systems (HBES) / building automation and control systems (BACS) switches designed for alternating current (AC) applications, with rated switching voltages up to 250 V and currents up to 16 A. It also covers electronic extension units such as sensors and push buttons powered by up to 250 V AC or 120 V DC.
