Overview
IEC 61084-2-2:2017 is an international standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It defines the particular requirements for cable trunking systems (CTS) and cable ducting systems (CDS) intended for electrical installations mounted underfloor, flushfloor, or onfloor. These systems accommodate and protect insulated electrical conductors, cables, and other electrical devices commonly used in electrical and communication installations with voltages up to 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC.
This second edition enhances the previous 2003 version by updating system classification, construction requirements, and mechanical and electrical properties to reflect advances and industry best practices. IEC 61084-2-2:2017 is designed to be used alongside IEC 61084-1:2017, which covers general requirements for cable management systems.
This standard specifically excludes cable trunking or ducting systems mounted on walls or supported by floors, as well as other cable management types such as conduit, cable trays, cable ladders, or power tracks.
