Overview
IEC 61784-3:2021 (consolidated with Amendment 1, 2024) defines general rules and profile definitions for functional safety fieldbuses within industrial communication networks. It explains common principles for transmitting safety-relevant messages between distributed participants using fieldbus technology in accordance with IEC 61508 functional safety requirements.
