ISO 13756:2024 is an international standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that specifies a volumetric potentiometric method for the determination of silver content in jewellery and precious metals. The method uses sodium chloride (NaCl) or potassium chloride (KCl) as titrants and is applied to homogeneous materials with a silver content preferably ranging between 100 and 999 parts per thousand (‰) by mass. For fineness values above 999 ‰, alternative methods such as spectroscopy by difference (e.g., ISO 15096) are recommended.
This third edition supersedes the 2015 version and expands the applicability of the method to a wider range of silver alloys. It serves as the reference method for determining silver fineness in alloys covered under ISO 9202.
