ISO 23205:2014 specifies the minimum design and performance requirements for an instructional seat and restraint intended for limited use by a trainer, trainee or service person inside an enclosed cab of an agricultural tractor. The standard clarifies intended use, exclusion (not designed for children), and practical safety measures to minimize interference with operator controls and visibility.

ISO 23205:2014 is used by tractor manufacturers, cab designers, safety engineers and training organizations to:
- Provide a standardized instructional seating solution inside enclosed ROPS cabs where two-person operation is required for training or diagnostics.
- Improve trainer and trainee safety during instruction by ensuring restraint and protective clearances consistent with tractor design.
- Guide cab layout choices so the additional occupant does not obstruct operator controls or sightlines.
Operator manuals must include at minimum:
- Appropriate and inappropriate uses (trainer/trainee/service person vs. children/other passengers);
- Requirement to wear the seat belt;
- Identified hazards (falling from the machine, obstruction of operator view).
