ISO 23375:2023, titled Intelligent transport systems - Collision evasive lateral manoeuvre systems (CELM) - Requirements and test procedures, defines functional requirements, basic control strategies, driver interface elements and verification tests for systems that avoid forward-path collisions by controlled lateral movement. A CELM generates yaw moment to steer the subject vehicle away from an object when a collision is predicted. Systems can act automatically or support driver-initiated lateral manoeuvres. The standard applies to light vehicles and heavy trucks and explicitly excludes vehicles equipped with trailers. Note that ISO 23375 does not prescribe specific object-detection or perception technologies.
