Overview
ISO 3016:2019 - "Petroleum and related products from natural or synthetic sources - Determination of pour point" defines a laboratory method to determine the pour point (the lowest temperature at which a petroleum sample will continue to flow) for petroleum products. The standard describes apparatus, sampling, and a stepwise cooling and observation procedure. It also includes a separate procedure for determining the lower pour point of fuel oils, heavy lubricant base stocks and products containing residual fuel components. The procedure is not suitable for crude oils. Note: automated apparatus exist, but their precision has not been established in this edition.

- Special handling if sample was heated >45 °C (rest 24 h at room temperature).
- Results and precision: Clause 8–9 cover expression of results and precision (aligned with ASTM D97). Annex C gives derived precision values. Annex B lists common chemicals and cooling mixtures; Annex A specifies temperature measuring device requirements.
