Overview
ISO 4706:2023 - Gas cylinders: Refillable welded steel cylinders (test pressure 60 bar and below) defines minimum requirements for the design, materials, construction, testing and certification of refillable welded-steel gas cylinders and pressure drums. It applies to water capacities from 0.5 L to 150 L (cylinders) and drums 150 L to 500 L, with a maximum test pressure of 60 bar, intended for compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases (including LPG) and designed to operate in extreme temperatures (−50 °C to +65 °C). This third edition (2023) updates the 2008 edition and tightens nondestructive testing requirements (e.g., X‑ray rules for multi‑piece designs).
