Overview
ISO 834-9:2003, "Fire-resistance tests - Elements of building construction - Part 9: Specific requirements for non-loadbearing ceiling elements", specifies furnace test procedures for determining the fire resistance of ceilings that have independent fire-resistance performance when heated from below. It applies to self-supporting ceilings and suspended ceilings (including hangers, fittings, insulation and services) and defines specimen preparation, instrumentation, test conditions and reporting requirements. This part complements the general requirements in ISO 834-1 and is not applicable when the ceiling acts as a horizontal fire barrier protecting a loadbearing element (in that case use ISO 834-5).
