ISO 8566-5:2017 specifies requirements for cabins and control stations used on overhead travelling cranes and portal bridge cranes (as defined in ISO 4306‑1). The standard addresses cabin construction, operator seating and control-element layout while taking the actual conditions of use into account. It is part of the ISO 8566 series covering crane cabins and control stations and updates the previous edition to reflect current ergonomic and safety practices.

- Scope change note: Heating and cooling requirements were removed from this part and are addressed in ISO 8566‑1.
