Overview
ISO 9333:2022 - "Dentistry - Brazing materials" defines requirements and test methods for dental brazing materials used to join metallic restorations. The third edition updates composition, corrosion, tensile and melting-range requirements and excludes brazing alloys with silver as the main component. It harmonizes key criteria with ISO 22674 and ISO 10271 and adds requirements for test reports, instructions for use (IFU) and optional labelling of working temperature.

- Static immersion testing and appearance checks are required. The release of metal ions shall not exceed 200 µg/2 cm in 7 days ± 1 h (see Clause 7.4).
- Visual/microscopic inspection must show no selective corrosion around the brazed area.
- Melting range & working temperature:
- Solidus/liquidus and manufacturer-specified working temperature (based on liquidus + manufacturer offset) are covered; IFU must include working temperature.
- Testing, sampling and documentation:
- Procedures for specimen preparation, tensile and corrosion testing, visual inspection, and requirement for a test report are specified.
- Requirements for marking, labelling and packaging of brazing materials are included.
