Overview
EN ISO 12625-8:2010 (Tissue paper and tissue products - Part 8) specifies a basket-immersion test method to determine the water-absorption time and water-absorption capacity of tissue paper and tissue products. The method describes manual test procedures (the automated methods were excluded from the standard unless validated against the manual method) and gives requirements for sampling, conditioning, apparatus, procedure, calculation and reporting. - After wetting, continue immersion for (30 ± 1) s, remove horizontally, hang at 30° and drain for (60 ± 1) s, then weigh.
- Calculations & reporting:
- Report mean water-absorption time (to 0,1 s) and standard deviation for five replicates.
- Water-absorption capacity W = (ma − mb) / mo (grams water per gram sample) where ma = basket+wet mass, mb = basket mass, mo = dry sample mass.
- Test report must reference EN ISO 12625-8 and include conditioning, sample ID, dimensions, means and deviations, and any deviations.
