ISO 1141:2021 defines requirements and designation rules for polyester fibre ropes in standard constructions: 3‑strand hawser‑laid, 4‑strand shroud‑laid, 8‑strand braided and 12‑strand braided. The fifth edition (2021) specifies physical properties (linear density in ktex and minimum breaking strength - MBS), marking, and general manufacturing and delivery conventions for polyester ropes intended for general service. It also clarifies that not all variations in strength or performance are covered and that the rope manufacturer must be consulted to ensure suitability for a given application.
