ISO 14229-1:2020 - "Road vehicles - Unified diagnostic services (UDS) - Part 1: Application layer" defines the application-layer behaviour and data-model for vehicle diagnostic services. It specifies data-link independent requirements that allow a diagnostic tester (client) to control diagnostic functions in an on-vehicle electronic control unit (ECU, server) over an embedded serial data link.
