Abstract

Overview - ISO 19577:2019 (Footwear - Determination of Nitrosamines)

ISO 19577:2019 specifies a standardized laboratory method for the determination of 12 Nitrosamines potentially present in footwear and footwear components, using solvent extraction followed by gas chromatography with mass selective detection (GC‑MS). The method is applicable to rubber materials used in footwear (see ISO/TR 16178 for material scope) and includes sample preparation, purification, chromatographic analysis, result calculation and reporting requirements. The standard includes informative and normative annexes with target compounds, GC‑MS parameters, confirmation procedures and interlaboratory results.
