Overview

ISO 21465:2025 - Test method for CMAS corrosion of thermal/environmental barrier coatings under dynamic thermal cycling specifies a standardized laboratory method to evaluate how calcia–magnesia–aluminosilicate (CMAS) attacks thermal/environmental barrier coatings (T/EBCs) during repeated heating and cooling. The standard covers both test procedures without a temperature gradient (muffle furnace method) and with a thermal gradient (flame exposure with backside cooling), plus criteria for determining coating failure after CMAS corrosion.
