ISO 29061-1:2011 provides criteria for the judgement of usability of child restraint systems (CRS) with ISOFIX attachments and their corresponding anchorages in the vehicle. ISO 29061-1:2011 provides criteria for a separate evaluation of the child restraint ISOFIX attachments, of the ISOFIX anchorage installation in the vehicle, and an evaluation of the interface issues when installing a child restraint system in a certain vehicle. ISO 29061-1:2011 covers both rigid and flexible attachment systems of the CRS.

ISO 29061-1:2010 - Road vehicles: Methods and criteria for usability evaluation of child restraint systems (CRS) - Part 1 covers the usability assessment of CRS that use ISOFIX anchorages and attachments. The standard defines a repeatable procedure and rating system to evaluate three separate aspects: the CRS ISOFIX attachments, the vehicle ISOFIX anchorage installation, and the interface that results when a particular CRS is installed in a specific seating position. It applies to both rigid and flexible attachments (extended to include LATCH/UAS-style flexible connectors).
