Overview
ISO 30005:2024 - Ships and marine technology - Ship recycling management - Information control for hazardous materials in the manufacturing chain of shipbuilding and ship operations - specifies requirements and guidance for managing, communicating and maintaining information on hazardous materials used throughout shipbuilding and ship operations. Aligned with the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, this second edition updates the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) framework and improves controls for suppliers, shipowners and shipyards.

- Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM): A ship-specific IHM is required and divided into Part I (structure and equipment), Part II (operationally generated wastes) and Part III (stores and other items prior to recycling).
