Overview
ISO 4252:2007 specifies dimensional requirements for the operator’s workplace, access and exit of agricultural tractors with a minimum track width greater than 1 150 mm. The standard defines minimum sizes for access doorways, the number, location and minimum dimensions of emergency exits, and required internal cabin clearances to ensure safe entry, egress and operation.

- Access doorways: Minimum clear opening dimensions are specified (see standard figures). Door frame and door-open positions are considered in measurement.
- Emergency exits:
- Minimum of two emergency exits, each located on different sides of the cab (front, rear, roof count as different sides).
- Any sufficiently large window can be an emergency exit only if the glazing is breakable glass; laminated glass, plastics or double glazing are not acceptable for that function.
- Passage opening must accommodate an ellipse of 640 mm × 440 mm.
- Internal clearance (operator workspace):
- Minimum clearances and volumes are defined relative to the Seat Index Point (SIP) and a vertical reference plane through the SIP and steering center.
- Key dimensioning uses a 1 050 mm reference radius/clearance in multiple zones (see figures and tables).
- Lateral clearance and forward/back clearance depend on seat adjustment (a = half the horizontal seat travel). Some reductions are permitted for special designs (e.g., all-terrain tractors).
- Soft materials (padding) may intrude up to 50 mm into required clearances.
