ISO 6941:2003 specifies a standardized laboratory method to measure flame spread properties of vertically oriented textile fabrics and multi-component textile products (coated, quilted, multilayered, sandwich constructions) when exposed to a small, defined flame. The test determines flame spread time - the time for a flame front to travel between marker threads on a vertically mounted specimen - using a defined burner and controlled test atmosphere. This method complements ISO 6940 (ease of ignition) and uses the vocabulary from ISO 4880.
